Constantly changing fashion and the clothing sector’s impact on resources is an emerging debate as society begins to understand the environmental and social repercussions of a disposability mentality. Water usage and the carbon footprint from freighting goods are important drivers of climate change and as a result sustainable fashion is an emerging trend.
Dr Andrew Brooks’ research focuses on the geography of consumption and production, in particular the sustainability of the global garment industry. His work shapes and informs international media debates on these questions. Brooks appears frequently in the media commentating on the diverse implications of clothing, particularly focusing on the issues associated with jeans production.
